I had the great fortune to present at the OSIsoft User Conference in April. This isn’t breaking news, but User Conferences have overtaken most of the industry events as the place to find owner/operators — and over 1,000 attended the OSIsoft event.
OSIsoft recorded high quality video of all of the presentations and makes the video and powerpoint files available online, free of charge. Here is the link to the video and powerpoint of my presentation on Portaledge CIP Monitoring Modules and the Bandolier Security Audit File for the PI Server. You will need Siverlight to watch the video (OSIsoft is tight with Microsoft), but there is a link to install it if you haven’t already.
This page has links to more than 50 online video and Powerpoint presentations from the event. About half of the presentations are from PI users explaining how they are using PI in their installation. For example, DTE Energy presented Managing Infrastructure Using The PI System which was very similar to the Portaledge Availability Modules, and they had examples of where it had helped them.
The other presentations are from OSIsoft on the new and planned developments in the PI System. They are really gearing up to deal with the huge amount of data that AMI and other smart grid deployments will bring, and there are some new developments in visualization that caught my eye such as the PI Coresight.
If you are a PI user who was unable to attend the event or a session you should check it out.
Full Disclosure: OSIsoft has been a generous contributor to our research including Portaledge and Bandolier. They have also helped sponsor S4 a couple of years.
