Here it is! The SCADA Security Scientific Symposium (S4) 2013 Call For Papers. We will be accepting paper and presentation proposals until Sept 21st, so you have two months to get in the S4 Program. If you already familiar with S4, go straight to the paper/presentation submission form.
Our approach to creating the S4 program is focused on putting together the best, most technical and innovative event in ICS security. We do not have a blind, academic event, peer reviewed approach. We evaluate and approve proposed presentations as they come in. We will answer – what do you think about a xxx proposal questions? We actively search out and request proposals when we learn of interesting work. If you know of a topic or presenter we should chase, please let us know.
One of the reasons we put the S4 2012 presentation video online is we wanted to show that S4 is an unusual and more technical event than other ICS security events. It’s easy to say, but you don’t have to take our word for it. Watch Reid’s presentation on Project Basecamp, Ralph Langner’s Stuxnet Deep Dive, Sean McBride’s The Lost Decade or any of the other presentations on EMET, application whitelisting in ICS pro’s and con’s, ….
After you see these videos you will have a good idea of what we are looking for. 2012 will be a tough act to follow as the presenters really came through big, but there are a lot more researchers looking at ICS security so we are optimistic the quality will continue to increase. Getting accepted to S4 locks in your spot at the event (last year was a sell out with 25+ turned away), and like most events, one of the biggest benefits is spending two days with your other top researchers in the field.
