Real World Statistics: Control System Hacks And Control System Protection
I will highlight one of the ten presentations in the Critical Infrastructure track of the InfraGard National Conference each week. I’ve challenged the industry to come up with some new and exciting ideas and information. The Conference is in Washington D.C. , August 9 to 11.
Real Statistics: Control System Hacks and Control System Protection
Tired of anecdotal evidence? Here is some actual statistical data.
This is a two-part presentation. Eric Byres of BCIT will present the latest data and threat conclusions from their Industrial Security Incident Database. The early information presented in a paper last year introduced some interesting hypotheses, including a shift in the common attack profile from insider to outsider. The conclusions were restricted by limited data, but over a year later there are a lot more incidents to include in the study. What is the real threat?
Part two of this presentation answers a question I’m asked all the time - - where do we stand compared to our industry group? Newton-Evans has just completed a survey on utility cyber security measures. What are your peers doing to protect their control systems? Are you ahead or behind the average control system? Get a sneak peak at the 2005 survey results.
