On my way to S4 today I listened to a new podcast from Security Catalyst. I’m a new subscriber to the podcast and the variety of topics/topic differentiation kept me enthused. The author covered how the Energy Policy Act of 2005 will effect Daylight Saving time at the beginning of 2007. Effectively the dates have been pushed from the beginning of April to the beginning of March and will be stopping one week later into the first week of November instead of at the end of October.

Previously I’ve witnessed Daylight Saving time to not even be observed by some controls centers as they run on UTC (recommended). So some control centers or time centric folks will not witness any potential problems.

The best advice is to be aware of this change, check up on your systems and or software and determine if it is going to effect you/your company.

Most systems have patches ready or already available (like Microsoft, Sun, etc), but what about NT4 or other legacy systems?

What about java products that have their own clock not based on system time?
