InfraGard Cancels Annual Conference

I had organized the Control Systems Security track at the InfraGard National Conference in 2005 and 2006, but was not scheduled to do this in 2007 so I don’t have any inside details. Here is the announcement:

The InfraGard 2007 Conference has been cancelled. The lack of broad base support for the conference created conditions that were producing unacceptable enterprise risk to the INMA and its member IMAs. Regrettably, the Board has no choice but to cancel the 2007 Conference.

InfraGard was a good event because it brought in a lot of new people that did not attend ISA, PCSF, etc. It also was interesting to see the Secretary of DHS or FBI Director give a keynote.

Maybe it is conference fatique or organizer fatique. A ten track conference for 500+ people is a huge undertaking.

In other respects, do you see InfraGard doing interesting things and accomplishing goals? I’m curious if this conference cancelation is part of a larger malaise…
