S4 Call for Papers Reminder and Poll on S4 Date
We have received some great early entries from our initial call for papers blog. Three papers are locked in at this point, including our S4 contribution: OPC UA Exposed, and we have solid entries and discussions from potential entries from a variety of sources. Submit your abstract early or shoot me an email to discuss.
We also learned that there is an overlap with the S4 dates and the Distributech event. The Distributech expo and conference is on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning (Jan 22 - 24). S4 is currently scheduled for that same Wednesday and Thursday (Jan 23 - 24).
This year Distributech is being held in Tampa which is a short and cheap Southwest flight from S4 in Miami. So we are not sure if this overlap is a good thing because someone traveling from afar could walk the Distributech floor on Tuesday and attend all of S4 Wednesday and Thursday, a bad thing because one has to choose between them for two days, or a non-issue because most S4 attendees are not interested in Distributech. So we thought we try out this WordPress poll plugin.
Should S4 change dates to avoid conflict with Distributech?
- Don’t Care. I was not planning on attending Distributech. (45%, 5 Votes)
- Yes. I want to attend all of Distributech and S4 (36%, 4 Votes)
- No. I like the fact that I can see Distributech for one day in nearby Tampa. (18%, 2 Votes)

Dale, some of us are interested in Distributech because of other meetings there which are at least as relevant as what S4 is all about.
I am very interested in attending S4, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to make it.
