ISA 100 Security Details at S4
We wanted to have a meaty, technical wireless security talk that focused on control system wireless protocols like Zigbee, HART wireless or ISA 100. This was a struggle. We had no decent wireless abstract submissions, and most of the good people who volunteered wanted to talk about 802.11, cracking WEP, WPA, … Things that most of the S4 attendees already know.
Thanks to some help from Jeff Potter, problem solved in a great way. Denis Foo Kune, a Honeywell Research Scientist and a security technical editor of ISA 100, will dig into the ISA 100 security architecture and details. Specifically his talk will include:
- a discussion of 802.15.4 protocol that is used rather than 802.11
- the draft ISA 100 multi-layer protocol that sits on top of 802.15.4
- the security components and protocols in ISA 100 draft
- what problems in existing protocols is ISA 100 solving?
This is the time to learn and contribute to the security of this important protocol, and Denis is someone who can explain it down to the bits and byte detail.
