Podcast: Reduce The Attack Surface With Microsoft Server Core

Minimizing your attack surface is an important security principle. This has been a challenge with bloated operating systems, but this is changing with an interesting build of Windows 2008 Server called Server Core. To make matters even more interesting, a control system vendor will soon release an application on Server Core. Hopefully this is the start of a trend.

Bryan Owen of OSIsoft joins me in this podcast to discuss Server Core, and their efforts to create a minimal attack surface version of the PI server running on Server Core. Other important benefits of Server Core include substantially reduced security patching and reduced hardware requirements.

BTW, OSIsoft is looking for beta customers for this more secure build.
