Friday News and Notes
- Checkpoint introduced the UTM-1 Edge Industrial, their firewall in an “industrial” package designed for field sites. It does not meet the specifications for placement in a substation or certain other field sites, but it does meet more stringent environmental specs. It will be interesting to see how many customers choose a more full-featured/easier to manage firewall in Checkpoint over a competent, truly designed for a field site firewall like those for RUGGEDCOM. And then of course their are the newer, more control protocol specific offerings from Byres and others. It may be time for us to do another bakeoff and market analysis.
- The Trident controller from Invensys is the eleventh controller to receive Achilles Level 1 certification. After the initial flurry of announcements from Mu and Wurldtech it has been a bit quiet so this is nice to see. [FD: Wurldtech is a former client of Digital Bond]
