Next Monday / Tuesday is the 2009 Edition of the SANS SCADA Security Summit in Orlando. I’m speaking at two sessions on Monday. The first is an hour review of the S4 papers, and the second is part of a panel on the Energy Roadmap related research where I’ll be giving a short presentation on Bandolier and taking questions.

Now I know some loyal readers are saying hypocrite!? I have been tough on SANS for their hypocrisy on businesses having a profit motive when they clearly hype their business and recently on the cost of this event. I also have mentioned multiple times they are best positioned to train the IT security world on control system security and said their Summits are useful to those new to the space. This still represents my thinking.

That said, having a chance to highlight the research presented at S4 and our Bandolier project to a large audience is a great opportunity. Given the demise of the PCSF event and the minimal attendance at the ISA Expo security tracks, the opportunities to reach an audience this size has diminished.
