We are looking to augment our research team for our Department of Energy funded research project, Cyber Security Audit and Detection Toolkit for control systems. Digital Bond recently won another large research contract from the Department of Homeland Security we are calling Quickdraw.
Why join the team?
- Digital Bond is the one of the few places where you can get paid to do SCADA security research. The Dept. or Energy funding is for a two year research project, and we have other project in the works.
- Digital Bond encourages, in fact mandates, that you make your results widely available to the community. Your work will not be hidden in some lab never to see the light of day or waiting for some commercial entity to productize it. You will be required to blog on your progress, write and present technical papers, and put the results in Digital Bond’s subscriber content. Our goal is that each Digital Bond researcher and consultant be recognized as best in the world in an important control system security topic.
- While this is primarily a research position, Digital Bond performs security assessments and other engagements for asset owners in electric, oil and gas, water, chemical manufacturing and other critical infrastructure industries. You will not be stuck in the lab. You will have the opportunity to see and work on real live critical infrastructure control systems.

Senior SCADA Security Researcher
Recognized as a thought leader in the control system community
Track record of innovative research results
Ability to create, gain funding and execute research projects
Very strong technical, speaking and writing skills
Annual Base Salary: $120,000
SCADA Security Researcher
Two to five years experience in control systems or IT security (experience in both is a big plus)
Ability to quickly code up ideas in a variety of languages
Ability to learn about and integrate a variety of applications and devices
Ability and desire to write for blogging, technical papers, SCADApedia and more
Ability to work independently from a home office. Digital Bond is a virtual organization.
Annual Base Salary: $80,000
Jr. SCADA Security Researcher
This is an ideal position for a recent graduate who has been working on a control system security project for I3P, TCIP or another program. We will also consider current graduate students with relevant experience on a part time basis.
Annual Base Salary: $50,000
A few final notes:
Digital Bond will consider part time employees and a comparably hourly rate. If you have the right profile and some time on your hands we will add you on a project basis.
Our decision is heavily based on references and abilities rather than experience and certifications. It is a small community so if you are good we will be able to verify this - - and vice versa.
