IEEE Security Standards
From SCADApedia
The IEEE Power Engineering Society Committee has three standards under development that address information (cyber) security at the substation. While the focus is on the electric sector substation, most of the standards would be applicable to any SCADA field site.
P1686 Standard for Substation Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED) Cyber Security Standards
P1686 specifies the minimum security features and functions an IED must have in a critical infrastructure environment.
Current Status: Issued in Feb 2008.
P1689 Trial Use Standard for Cyber Security of Retrofit Serial SCADA Links and IED Remote Access
P1689 is largely based on the AGA 12 Part 1 draft standard and documents the general security requirements for a retrofit, or add-on, security device for deployed IED's.
Current Status: In development. Third draft issued in 2006
P1711 Trial Use Standard for a Cryptographic Protocol for Cyber Security of Substation Serial Links
P1711 is largely based on the AGA 12 Part 2 draft standard that specified a security protocol for serial links used in control systems.
Current Status: In development. Second draft issued on 28 Feb 2007
