ISCI Organization
The Automation Standards Compliance Institute (ASCI) was formed by ISA in 2006 by ISA as a separate entity. ASCI then created three compliance institutes: one for wireless, one for interoperability, and the ISCI. There are different types of ISCI membership, each with their own annual cost from Corporate Members at $50,000 / year to Informational Members at $1,500.
Certification Test Specifications
One of the main tasks of ISCI is to develop compliance test specifications for vetted standards. ISA99 is viewed as the primary ISCI source for vetted standards, but other standards will be considered. This is likely to happen initially because the ISA99 Part 4 standard is not completed. The initial testing is likely to be network attached device testing of the TCP/IP stacks.
The ISCI test specifications will be written by ISCI technical members and remain the property of ISCI.
Certification Testing
In 2009 ISCI plans to begin certification testing. A testing process and price schedule has not been released.
Milestones
The ISCI was launched January 2008. The following are ISCI milestones:
- 31 August 2008 - Certification Profiles Completed
- 30 May 2009 - Certification Program Operational
- 1 June 2009 - Start Processing Certification Requests
