Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL)
From SCADApedia
SEL makes products primarily for use by electric utilities, and it is common to see the familiar blue paneled SEL products in electric substations. SEL sells two control system security products: the SEL 3021 Serial Encryptor and the SEL 3022 Wireless Serial Encryptor.
SEL History
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) was founded in 1982 by Edmund Schweitzer. Mr. Schweitzer invented and delivered via SEL the first fully digital protective relay.
SEL is located in Pullman, WA adjacent to the Washington State University campus where Mr. Schweitzer earned his Phd and taught for a period of time.
SEL Products
SEL has expanded beyond protective relays and now offers communication gateways, meters, communication processors and other devices.
SEL's first security products, the SEL-3021 and SEL-3022, encrypt serial communication sent over a modem, radio, 802.11 wireless or other serial communication channels.
